As an organization led by formerly incarcerated individuals, we are fully aware that the families of those in prison also suffer when their loved ones are locked up. They endure the trauma of separation as well as the financial hardship of the loss of a bread winner while having to shoulder the responsibility for commissary, phone, visits, and legal costs.
Our Growth
To address this issue in 2022 we founded our Families of Resilience project to provide support and guidance to those who have a loved one behind bars or a family member who has recently returned home from prison and is struggling to cope with the transition. As we well know, the person that goes off to prison for several years, is not the same person when they return home. By the same token, the family members who remained in the community have also changed. Sometimes these changes make it challenging for family members to find a common thread and rebuild a loving relationship. Families of Resilience helps people to find that common thread and build a smooth transition.
We provide support and inspiration to individuals who have a loved
one behind bars or who has recently returned home from prison.
